PHOENIX, Ore.Reed Tennyson and Ryan McWatters worked late bonus-point wins to tip the scale in Southern Oregon's favor for a 26-18 dual win over 11th-ranked Simpson on Thursday night at Phoenix High School.

The 14th ranked Raiders led 12-8 until Simpson 165-pounder Ben Gacayan won by fall in the third round against C.J. McKinnis to give the Redhawks a two-point edge. That's when the 12th-ranked Tennyson stepped in at 174 pounds, needing just 44 seconds to pin Khalil Swanson for a quick answer.

The Redhawks tied the dual at 184 when top-ranked Brady Beamon muscled up Oscar Flores for an 8-0 major decision to make the score 18-all, but then it was McWatters' turn. The senior, who is the No. 3 184-pounder in the NAIA but was wrestling up a class, put on a show against 13th-ranked Erik Medina with takedown after takedown – 13 in all – for a 27-12 technical fall in the third round.

SOU's Alejandro Sandoval clinched the win with a 3-2 decision over Henry Campos that he won with a riding-time point.

Earlier in the dual, Casey Coulter (125) got the Raiders started with a 6-0 decision against Mason Sauseda. Simpson's Vicente Hernandez (133) put the Redhawks on the board with a technical fall, but SOU's Trevor Hancock (141) scored an 8-6 decision over Hayden Zimmerman with a late takedown and Tyler Cowger (141) accepted a forfeit to make the score 12-5 in SOU's favor.

Richard Ortiz's decision at 157 and Gacayan's pin put Simpson in the lead, but only temporarily.

SOU improved to 4-1 in duals and 8-0 against Simpson since the Redhawks started their program in 2013. The Raiders also defeated Simpson 30-15 on Nov. 14.

The Raiders are off until Dec. 17, when they'll host the Doc Whelton Classic at the Medford Armory and face Simon Fraser (B.C.) and Pacific (Ore.).
