Box Score 3 REDDING, Calif. – The Southern Oregon University softball team won on a walk-off Krystina Pardoski (Gaberville, Calif./South Fork) home run in its first game and a last-at-bat rally in its second to take two out of three Saturday at the Simpson Tournament.
The Raiders (10-2 overall) defeated San Diego Christian 5-4 in eight innings during the morning session, downed 14th-ranked Biola 2-1 in the afternoon and ended the day with a 6-4 loss to 10th-ranked Simpson.
Pardoski homered twice in the opener, ending it with a solo shot after San Diego Christian rallied to take a 4-3 lead with four seventh-inning runs. Megan Scherer (Oakland, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd) hit a sacrifice fly to in the bottom of the seventh to force extras. Pardoski's blast – which was her third of the season – occurred after SOU's runner at second base was thrown out in the international tiebreaker.
Kelsey Randall (Concord, Calif./Concord) went 3-for-4 and Alexa Gonzalez (Menifee, Calif./Heritage) was 2-for-3.
The Raiders trailed Biola 1-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth, where Gina Ayala (Norwalk, Calif./Santa Fe) and Megan Winton (Davis, Calif./Davis Senior) hit back-to-back RBI doubles with two outs to take the lead. Cheyenne Bricker (Bieber, Calif./Big Valley) then finished off a complete-game victory on the mound, improving to 5-0 on the season.
SOU only had two hits going into its final at bat, and Scherer set the table with a two-out walk.
Randall went 4-for-4 with a homer and two runs scored against Simpson and Gonzalez added two more hits. Sydney White (Clovis, Calif./Clovis West) tossed 4 1/3 innings of one-hit ball.
The Raiders will be back in action Sunday with a doubleheader at Chico State. First pitch is set for noon.
