ASHLAND – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association gave a tip of the proverbial cap to Southern Oregon University's
Lexi Ramirez on Thursday with a spot on its NAIA All-America team.
Ramirez, a junior from La Habra, Calif., made the 18-person second team in the utility/pitcher spot. She was one of only two Cascade Conference players recognized.
In her first season with the Raiders, Ramirez added some much-needed pop to the lineup with a .336 batting average, 10 doubles, two home runs, two triples and 34 RBIs. The right-hander got on at a .408 clip while primarily playing first base.
As a pitcher, she went 12-5 with a 2.71 ERA in 24 appearances, including 19 starts. She ranked second on the team in innings pitched (118 2/3), strikeouts (97) and complete games (10), limiting opponents to a .251 batting average. She allowed one or no earned runs in 11 different starts.
Ramirez was at her best in conference play, where she batted .400 (26-for-65) with seven extra-base hits. From mid-April to early May, she drove in at least one run in eight consecutive games.
Prior to joining SOU, she was the NFCA Cal-JC Pitcher of the Year at El Camino College (Calif.) in 2025.
SOU produced another All-American,
Ayla Davies, on the official NAIA list earlier this week.
