ASHLAND – Following a scalding-hot finish to her redshirt-freshman season, Southern Oregon right fielder
Kalea Thomas was selected to the All-NAIA World Series Team when the tournament was completed on Thursday.
Thomas went 5-for-12 with three RBIs and a run scored over three games in Columbus, Ga. In 10 total postseason games, the left-handed leadoff hitter batted .575 (23-for-40) with seven RBIs and 10 runs scored, supplying multiple hits in nine different outings.
Thomas ended the spring on an 18-game hitting streak, during which she batted .559 (38-for-68) with six extra-base hits and 21 runs.
That tear raised her season batting average to .413, the third-best in the Cascade Conference. Among all NAIA players, she ranked ninth in hits (85), 51st in stolen bases (27) and 57th in runs scored (50).
Thomas was previously named to the All-CCC first team and a National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region performer.
