Meister drops 32 and 10 as Raiders dominate Northwest, 89-72

KIRKLAND, Wash. – With multiple post presences alongside her, Carly Meister (Elma, Wash./Elma) hasn't needed to shoulder as large of a load this season for the 13th-ranked Southern Oregon University women's basketball team.

Lately, the numbers have come to her anyway. Meister scored a career-high 32 points Friday night, going 15-for-20 with 10 rebounds to help the Raiders control Northwest University from start to finish, 89-72.

The Raiders secured their third consecutive 20-win season, improving to 20-3 overall and 11-3 in the Cascade Conference. They remain in second place, one game behind 23rd-ranked Eastern Oregon, going into Saturday's 5:30 p.m. contest at Evergreen State.

They took over early against Northwest (11-13, 3-10), leading 23-10 eight minutes in and 51-29 by halftime. Thirty-two of those points were in the paint, thanks in part to a 29-11 rebounding advantage in the half and 21-of-39 shooting.

Meister had 18 points and seven boards before halftime and finished with her second double-double in five games. She's averaged 15.2 points during that stretch after posting 10.8 through SOU's first 18 games.

Autumn Durand (Onalaska, Wash./Onalaska) totaled 18 points and six rebounds, going 4-for-8 from the floor and 8-for-9 at the free-throw line. Alexi Smith (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) had 14 points and six boards, and Tiani Bradford (Oregon City, Ore./Oregon City) came off the bench to put up nine points on 4-of-6 accuracy.

The Eagles were led by Jordan Asher's 24 points and four assists. They were held to 36-percent shooting (26-for-72) as a team and went 4-for-24 from downtown.

The Raiders' lead was largest at 74-45 with 11 minutes left. They swept the season series after having won 110-74 on Jan. 10.
