Weber raises assist bar with fourth triple-double as Raiders cruise

OLYMPIA, Wash. Tim Weber (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) filled up the box score again Saturday night, recording his fourth triple-double of the season and breaking Southern Oregon University's single-season assist record in the process during an 83-71 win over Evergreen at CRC Gymnasium.

Weber finished with 13 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds, bringing his grand total to 202 assists. Stacy Hilliard set the old program mark with 200 during the 1990-91 season.

The 17th-ranked Raiders upped their record to 20-6 overall and 10-5 in the Cascade Conference. They've won at least 20 games in three consecutive seasons for the first time in program history.

Eric Thompson (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) led five Raiders in double figures with 21 points and eight rebounds, going 9-for-16 from the field and 3-for-6 from downtown. Freshman guards Kenny Meyer (Sparks, Nev./Spanish Springs) and Ben DeSaulnier (Philomath, Ore./Philomath) had 14 and 10 points, respectively, and Jordan West (Gymea Bay, Australia/Port Hacking) went for 12 points and five rebounds.

Evergreen (4-17, 1-13), which on Friday won its first conference game in upset fashion against Oregon Tech, got 23 points out of Jordan Dam, who did all of his damage in the second half.

The Raiders, who also lost on Friday at Northwest, got off to a fast start and were up 29-15 after scoring 10 unanswered, including seven by Thompson. They led 38-19 at halftime and by as many as 23 in the second.

SOU shot 55 percent (31-for-56) in the game and 15-for-25 in the second half. Joel Spear (Adelaide, Australia/St. Michaels) chipped in eight points, four assists and four rebounds.

The Raiders swept the season series and have won eight straight against the Geoducks overall. They shot 73 percent in a 105-72 triumph on Jan. 9 in Ashland.

SOU will visit New Hope Christian on Tuesday in nonleague play and on Saturday in Ashland will go for its eighth straight win over Oregon Tech.
