SOU to play NAIA Network Game of the Week at Corban

ASHLAND – The Southern Oregon University men's soccer team's 4:30 p.m. game Friday at 14th-ranked Corban has been selected as the NAIA Network Men's Soccer Game of the Week.

SOU (7-2 overall, 2-2 Cascade Conference), which won its notched its first two CCC wins last weekend over Multnomah and Walla, will attempt to become the first team to knock off the Warriors (7-0, 2-0). Then the Raiders will travel to Eugene to meet Northwest Christian (1-5-1, 0-2) at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Corban, Rocky Mountain and Evergreen are the only unbeaten CCC teams, and SOU is one of six squads with at least two wins. The Raiders will be back in Ashland next week to host Warner Pacific and Eastern Oregon.

Quick Hits:
- While six of SOU's seven wins have come against teams six opponents who have a combined three wins this season, the Raiders' 3-1 win at Menlo on Aug. 27 has aged well. It stands as the only loss for the Oaks, who are 6-1-1 overall.
- After depositing three goals and an assist last weekend, Brendan Allen is tied for third in the CCC with six goals.
- Amhon Afenegus is tied with Allen for the team lead in points with 13 (four goals, five assists). Dakota Marquez and Diego Buenrostro also have four goals apiece.
- This weekend's games will feature three of the most whistled teams in the circuit. NCU averages 14 fouls, Corban averages 13.7 and SOU averages 13.
- No. 21 Rocky Mountain is currently the only other CCC team in the NAIA Top 25.

About Corban: The Warriors currently own their highest ranking in program history and have yet to allow a goal during their program-best start. They have five starters back from last year's team that went 8-5-1 in the CCC. Quamie Dinnall (6 goals, 4 assists) and Nathaniel Cheney (4 goals, 1 assist) lead the team in points, and keeper Jordan Farr has only needed to make 15 saves this season.

About Northwest Christian: The Beacons opened with a forfeit win over Trinity Lutheran but haven't had much to speak of except a 2-2 tie against Pacific since. They were shut out in both of their CCC openers at Carroll (4-0) and Great Falls (3-0). Isaiah Blake has a team-high three goals for NCU, which went 3-10-1 in the conference last year.
