Raiders top Walla Walla in straight sets for 15th straight win

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Southern Oregon was challenged in the first set Saturday night but breezed after that to its 15th consecutive win in its first-ever meeting with the Walla Walla Wolves, 25-19, 25-10, 25-12 in Cascade Conference volleyball action.

Tyana Andrews led the way with 11 kills on 22 attacks, four digs and four blocks for the eighth-ranked Raiders (15-0 overall, 8-0 CCC), who will put their perfect record on the line next week in key matches at College of Idaho and seventh-ranked Eastern Oregon.

Emma Gasman also stayed hot SOU, flooring nine kills on 15 attacks and assisting five of SOU's season-high 14 blocks. Gasman has recorded at least eight kills in five of SOU's last six matches and attacked at an average of .400 or better in four of them.

Corynn Kopra added six kills and eight digs, Laura Morse had five kills and three blocks, Lauren McGowne distributed 28 assists with eight digs, and Ashlyn Flynn racked up a match-high 14 digs.

SOU avoided early trouble by finishing strong when the Wolves got within 19-18 in the first set, then scored the first six points of the second and hit .462 throughout the frame. The Raiders ended up with an attacking average of .318, their fifth time over the .300 mark this season (they got over .300 once last year).

Maria Darling had eight kills for the Wolves, who fell to 6-8 and 2-6 in the CCC.

SOU is one of five remaining undefeated teams in the NAIA.
