ASHLAND
 – The Southern Oregon University men's soccer team is back on the road this weekend for matchups Saturday at William Jessup University in Rocklin, Calif., and Sunday at Pacific Union College Angwin, Calif.

After being awarded a forfeit victory for their previously scheduled game with Trinity Lutheran College, the Raiders are off to a 3-0 start. Originally the teams were slated to meet for the season opener on Aug. 20 in Eugene, but Trinity Lutheran didn't have enough NAIA-eligible players to compete at the time.

The Raiders started with a 10-1 rout at shorthanded Sierra Nevada College (Nev.) and a 3-1 upset of Menlo (Calif.), a 10-win team last season. They'll play their first-ever Cascade Conference game next Friday at College of Idaho.

Quick Hits:
– Junior Tyler Luebbert has appeared in 135 of 180 minutes at keeper for the Raiders and has tallied nine saves, including eight at Menlo.
– Nine Raiders (six of them freshmen) have scored goals in two games. Freshmen Ahmon Afenegus, Brendan Allen, Diego Buenrostro and Dakota Marquez lead the team with two each. Marquez scored the first goal in program history in the 15th minute of the first game.
– Midfielder Diego Buenrostro scored the game-winning goal against Menlo, sandwiched by two goals by Allen. SOU scored on all three of its shots on goal and won despite being outshout 14-6.

About William Jessup (1-0): Last year the Warriors, a member of the Golden State Athletic Conference, went 5-9-2 overall and 1-7-2 in the GSAC. They opened this season with a 3-0 win over Pacific Union, led by two Justin Soria goals.

About Pacific Union (0-2): The Pioneers, a member of the California Pacific Conference, are scoreless in two games this season. Last year they went 0-17 overall and 0-12 in conference play. They've lost 57 consecutive games dating back to a 2-1 win over Arizona Christian on Oct. 12, 2011.
