No. 9 SOU secures 20th win at Multnomah, 102-36

PORTLAND – For the first time in program history, the Southern Oregon women's basketball team has won at least 20 games in four straight seasons after Saturday night's 102-36 defeat of the Multnomah Lions at Jim Skagen Court.

Seniors Ashley Claussen and Carly Meister, who have had hands in each of those seasons, boosted the ninth-ranked Raiders again as they went to 20-1 overall and 13-1 in the Cascade Conference. Claussen recorded 10 points, eight assists and six steals, while Meister had 12 points and five boards.

Autumn Durand contributed 12 points and six rebounds, Majerle Reeves scored all 12 of her points on 3-pointers and Sydney Mullings added 12 more on 4-for-4 shooting.

The Raiders maintained a one-game lead in first place over Oregon Tech, making this the latest they've been on top of the standings since they last won the CCC eight years ago. Four of their final six regular-season contests will be played in Ashland, starting with next Saturday's 5:30 p.m. matchup against last-place Walla Walla.

The Lions dropped to 4-18 overall and 2-12 in their first season of CCC play.

The 66-point margin of victory made it SOU's second-most lopsided conference win in team history, behind only its 75-point win three weeks ago at Walla Walla. It was also the sixth time the Raiders have broken 100 points and the third time in their last four games.

SOU's defense established the tone in the first quarter, when the Raiders forced 13 of Multnomah's 32 total turnovers. They shot 20-of-39 in the first half and 49 percent (36-of-74) for the game, hitting 11 of 34 attempts from downtown as Taylor Nuttall, Tiani Bradford and Claussen sunk two triples apiece to go with Reeves' four.

Along with Mullings and Reeves, the Raiders got more solid play from the bench: Toria Bradford totaled seven points, seven rebounds, five steals and four assists, and Courtney Setzer chipped in nine points and six rebounds. In total, the Raider bench outscored Multnomah's 55-22.

The trip to Multnomah was the Raiders' first. They completed the season sweep of the Lions, having previously won 98-51 on Dec. 30 at Mountain Avenue Gym.
