SOU stays perfect in CCC with another shutout, 1-0 at EOU

LA GRANDE – Who's going to solve the Southern Oregon women's soccer team? In the Raiders' toughest Cascade Conference test yet Saturday afternoon, the answer was not Eastern Oregon.

Redshirt-freshman Facienne Graham scored off the bench for the second day in a row, turning Serena Robertson's pass into an assist in the 43rd minute, and SOU polished off its fourth straight shutout with a 1-0 win against the Mountaineers to complete a weekend road sweep.

In the process, the Raiders (7-3-1 overall, 4-0 CCC) also ended EOU's own shutout streak at six matches and established themselves as legitimate title contenders. The Mountaineers (7-3-2, 4-1-1) went 9-2 in the conference last season and were picked to finish third this year in the same poll that had SOU in the No. 5 spot.

In conference play, the Raiders have outscored their opponents 10-0. In seven games against NAIA teams, they've combined for a 21-1 score.

Dating back to last season, they've now won seven straight conference road games –easily the longest streak in program history.

Starting next week, they'll play five of their final seven CCC games in Ashland. Evergreen State comes to town Friday for a 2 p.m. match, and SOU will host Northwest (Wash.) at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Kylie Moltzen secured the shutout, SOU's seventh overall of the season, with five saves, all in the second half.

SOU's defense held up in the second half despite being outshot 9-1 after halftime.
