SOU makes Evergreen latest shutout victim, 3-0

ASHLAND – Southern Oregon's shutout streak is still intact, and after Friday afternoon's 3-0 win against Evergreen State it's now longer than any in the team's 17-year history.

The Raiders (8-3-1 overall, 5-0 Cascade Conference) made the Geoducks (2-4-1, 0-3-1) their fifth straight opponent to walk away with nothing and their eighth of the year.

Megan McArthur and Kelsey Randall executed a give-and-go to set up McArthur's short drive from left to right in the 14th minute, her seventh goal of the season. Presley Lambert assisted Kylie Durant's first goal in the 35th, tapping a free kick to her for an eight-yard shot with the defense off guard. And in the 82nd minute, Maddy Spangler beat one defender and finished SOU's counter, getting an assist from Simone Schroder.

In the Raiders' last three games, five of their sixth goals have been provided off the bench. Spangler has two of them.

The Raiders – who, along with Carroll (5-0-1 CCC), are one of two unbeaten teams left in conference play – have gone the last 653 minutes against NAIA opponents without allowing a goal. In four of their last six halves played, they haven't even yielded a shot on goal.

Evergreen put one shot on goal against the Raiders. It was saved by Andi Rasmussen, who subbed in for Kylie Moltzen at halftime and shared credit for the shutout. SOU's back line of defenders Daisy Cervantes, Jacqueline Laird and Megan Smith and defensive-midfielder Lisa Ellege took most of the pressure off their keepers.

SOU placed eight of its 19 shots on target. McArthur's goal was the 18th of her career, moving her into sixth place on SOU's career goals list. And Lambert's assist was her fourth of the season, a team-high total.

The Raiders have won 14 straight games in which they've scored multiple goals. They've also won nine straight against the Geoducks, outscoring them 22-3 in that span.

SOU hosts Northwest (Wash.) at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The Eagles improved to 3-1 in the CCC with Friday's 3-1 win at Oregon Tech.
