ASHLAND – With five games left in the regular season, the Southern Oregon men's and women's soccer teams have positioned themselves to make Thursday night's rivalry matchups with Oregon Tech at Raider Stadium especially meaningful.

The Raider men (7-2-2 overall, 5-1-2 Cascade Conference) enter the week in third place, but they and the Owls (8-3-2, 5-2-1) are part of a top-six in the standings all within one game of each other. They'll take the first half of the doubleheader at 6 p.m.

Thirty minutes following that game's conclusion, the first-place Raider women (9-3-1, 6-0) will take their crack at OIT (3-9-1, 1-4-1) and attempt to complete a season sweep. SOU won the season-opener for both teams, 3-1, in a non-conference meeting Aug. 20 in Klamath Falls.

SOU will get the weekend off before spending next Friday and Saturday to Montana, where Carroll and Great Falls will host.

MEN'S NOTES
– In their last three games, the Raiders have made the most of three goals: an own goal, a penalty kick and a game-winner with two minutes left in regulation, going 2-0-1 in those contests and extending their unbeaten streak to five games. With five wins and a tie, they've already outdone their CCC win total in 2015 (5-8).
– Last Saturday's 1-0 victory over Northwest (Wash.) served as the highlight of the program's brief history. Thanks to Carlos Magana's goal via an Ahmon Afenegus assist with 1:36 on the clock, the Raiders got their first-ever win against a team with a winning CCC record.
– Five Raiders have scored multiple goals in conference play: Magana (5), Dakota Scott (4), Mitchell Pinney (3), Jared Delaney (2) and Sean McManamon (5). Newcomers have accounted for 19 of SOU's 29 total goals and 12 of 20 assists.
– With the exception of penalty kicks, keeper Jonathan Morales has made 25 saves since last allowing a goal.
– SOU's average of 0.6 goals allowed per game ranks second in the CCC. Brett Butler, the anchor of the defense, is averaging a team-high 93 minutes per game.

About Oregon Tech:
– After going 4-8-1 in the CCC last year, the Owls were 4-0 until they tied Warner Pacific, lost to Northwest in double-overtime and lost to Evergreen in their last three matchs.
– SOU won the first-ever meeting between the teams last year, 3-2 in Klamath Falls.
– Lodewijk Bloemzaad (4 goals, 2 assists) and Austin Schoenmann (5 goals) rank fourth in scoring in CCC action.
– The Owls have outscored conference opponents, 25-6.

WOMEN'S NOTES
– The Raiders' six-game winning streak is one shy of the longest in team history – a seven-game run in 2003 by a squad that went 10-2 in the CCC.
– SOU's shutout streak of six games is the longest in team history. With nine total shutouts, the Raiders need one more to match the program record established in 2010. While the defense has been lauded for its work, head coach Jenni Rosenberg has also credited non-defender Presley Lambert for SOU's stingy nature. A two-time all-conference performer, Lambert played forward last year but has provided a wall at holding-midfielder this season while still pitching in a team-high four assists. Her career totals are up to 12 goals and seven assists.
Megan McArthur, who is one point off the conference lead with eight goals and two assists, has scored one goal in all six Raider home games this season. She needs one more goal to become just the fifth Raider to ever tally 20 goals in a career.
– Keeper Kylie Moltzen has made 20 saves since last allowing a goal. In her career she owns 20 solo shutouts and has shared five.
– The Raiders are 10-3-2 at Raider Stadium since they started calling it home in 2014.

About Oregon Tech:
– SOU leads the all-time series with the Owls, 19-7-2.
– The Owls snapped a nine-game winless streak (0-8-1) with Saturday's 1-0 win against Evergreen. Cassidy Gosvener scored the game-winner in the 52nd minute.
– Gosvener leads the team with four goals and two assists, while Jodie Reoch has two goals and five assists.
– In conference play, they've been outscored 13-5.
