KLAMATH FALLS
– For the 28th consecutive meeting, the Southern Oregon volleyball team defeated its travel partner, Oregon Tech, on Wednesday night by scores of 26-24, 25-15 and 25-16 at Danny Miles Court.

While the Raiders (13-9 overall, 10-5 Cascade Conference) have recently dominated the Owls (10-11, 6-9), they hadn't swept OIT in three years and had to overcome 2-1 set deficits in their last two trips over the hill.

As a team, the Raiders attacked at a season-best .347 average. Emma Gasman was the catalyst, connecting for kills on 17 of 22 error-free swings. Lauren McGowne had 36 assists and five digs, and libero Ashlyn Flynn aided the back row with 14 digs and six assists.

Gasman's kill total was the highest for a Raider without an error in Josh Rohlfing's 10 years as head. In SOU's last two matches, she and middle Courtney Macklin have combined for 41 kills and just two errors.

Taylor Ristvedt contributed nine kills on 17 attacks and Nila Lukens had seven.

Kelsey Sampson led the Owls with 16 kills and 112 digs. Bella Foss added 12 digs and Waverly Green assisted 26 of 32 kills for the Owls, who collectively hit .170.

The Raiders led 10-3 in the first set, but the Owls matched them with their own 10-3 run. After falling behind 24-23, the Raiders claimed the last three points on a pair of Gasman kills that sandwiched Green's attacking error.

SOU never looked back, going up 6-1 in the second set and 11-7 in the third when Ariana Sattler served them to four straight points. The Raiders ended the match on a 6-2 run.

The Raiders have won 12 straight sets overall and is tied with College of Idaho for fourth place going into Friday's 3 p.m. match at last-place Walla Walla.
