SOU breaks 3-point record in rout of Cal Maritime

KLAMATH FALLS – Three-point shooting was Southern Oregon's most glaring weak spot through the first three games of the season. In the fourth, Saturday afternoon against Cal Maritime at the Midland Empire Classic, the second-ranked Raiders couldn't miss.

Second-ranked set a new school record for 3-point makes against the Keelhaulers in an 86-45 win, its third straight, by going 16-for-32 from downtown. When the day started, the Raiders were 19-for-78 – a clip of 24 percent.

Majerle Reeves came off the bench to set the tone with a career-high 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting from downtown, a day after she went 5-for-9 in SOU's win against Simpson. Four other Raiders knocked down two 3-pointers apiece: Toria Bradford, Autumn Durand, Daranda Hinkey and Delaney Sparling.

SOU (3-1 overall) also got 15 points and 13 rebounds from Durand, the 10th double-double of her career and second in as many days. Demi Sahlinger went for eight points and 10 assists, matching a career high in the latter category.

Tiani Bradford added 13 points, five rebounds and three steals, Toria Bradford had eight points and four steals, and Casey Williams chipped in six rebounds, four assists and three steals off the bench. The Raiders forced 26 turnovers and committed 14.

The 3-point barrage was heaviest in the third quarter, when the Raiders made all five of their attempts to extend a 36-20 halftime lead to 67-32 going into the fourth.

Cal Maritime, which fell to 0-7, shot 27 percent (17 of 64). Amber Herrly led the Keelhaulers with 15 points and seven rebounds.
