Raiders log 4th straight shutout in 3-0 win at Multnomah

PORTLAND – Three hundred sixty-four game minutes have passed since the Southern Oregon men's soccer team last allowed a goal, a streak that was extended in Saturday's 3-0 win over Multnomah in a Cascade Conference match at Delta Park.

The Raiders (4-1 overall, 2-0 CCC) made the Lions (2-5, 0-2) their fourth straight victim by scoring three times in the second half within 15-minute segment. Sean McManamon assisted Mitchell Pinney in the 51st, Ahmon Afenegus hooked up Dakota Scott in the 54th, and Travis Hopkins tallied unassisted in the 65th.

Jonathan Morales was the keeper of decision with five saves in 90 minutes at the post.

After their perfect CCC-opening weekend on the road, the Raiders will be home next Friday and Saturday afternoons to take on 21st-ranked Corban and Northwest Christian.

They were in control throughout Saturday's contest, sustaining advantages of 20-6 in shots and 7-0 in corners, and finally got on the board when Daniel Zamores initiated a play that resulted in McManamon's one-touch pass over the back line to Pinney, who finished on Multnomah keeper Manny Guillermo with his right foot.

Three minutes later, Afenegus went one-on-one near the sideline and cut toward the middle with a cross to Scott, who finished with a header for his team-leading fifth goal of the season. Afenegus started similar action for SOU's next goal, crossing to Carlos Magana, whose header was saved but then bobbled, allowing Hopkins to come in and clean up the mess with a header of his own.

Pinney is up to three goals while Hopkins recorded his first as a Raider. The assists were the fourth for McManamon and second for Afenegus of the season.

During its four-game win streak, SOU has outscored its opponents 17-0.
