McArthur, Randall score two apiece as Raiders blank Corban

ASHLAND Megan McArthur and Kelsey Randall scored two goals apiece, and the Southern Oregon women's soccer team scored its most lopsided win in a Cascade Conference shutout since 2004 on Friday afternoon with a 5-0 defeat of the Corban Warriors at Raider Stadium.

Playing their CCC opener, the Raiders (4-3-1 overall) went ahead 20 minutes into the game when Randall beat everyone to a loose ball and shot into an empty net. In the 49th minute, McArthur doubled the lead when she took Lisa Elledge's 10-yard through-pass and shot past Corban keeper Sheyenne Brusven from eight yards out and straight on into the lower left-hand corner of the goal.

McArthur struck again in the 53rd minute – rebounding and putting back her own one-on-one shot that was set up by Elledge's cross and initially saved by Brusven – and Randall split a pair of Warrior defenders three minutes later, crossing over to a 16-yard liner from left to right that she place just under the crossbar. The final score was an own goal, which Facienne Graham's pressure helped make possible.

The last time a pair of Raiders scored multiple goals in the same conference game was Sept. 16, 2005 against Corban, when Kara Bradach and Lindsey Karsten accomplished the feat.

The Raiders have now defeated Corban (5-5, 1-2 CCC) in back-to-back matchups for the first time in the series' 28-game history, and they've blanked the Warriors in three straight meetings.

In four games against NAIA teams this season, the Raiders have conceded just one goal. Keeper Kylie Moltzen only needed two saves to secure the latest shutout.

McArthur is up to five goals on the season and 16 for her career. She's tallied eight in her last 11 games played.

Randall, meanwhile, registered the first two-goal outing of her career while knocking home her second and third scores of the season.

SOU, which hosts Northwest Christian at 4 p.m. Saturday, out-shot the Warriors 18-5.
