FOREST GROVE, Ore. Devin Poppen, Southern Oregon's 14th-ranked 141-pounder, earned his second tournament title of the season Sunday to highlight three Raider placers at Pacific University's Boxer Open.

Aaron DeMay placed second at 165 pounds and Justin Acuff took fourth at 149 for SOU, which only brought seven wrestlers and sat most of its starters.

Poppen – who also won his bracket at the Spokane Open on Nov. 20 – pinned his way to the title, defeating Montana Tech's Tim Ellinger (4:59), Douglas College's Marc Magano (1:31) and Douglas's Aso Palani (1:47) consecutively by fall. Going back to the NWCA-NAIA National Duals, Poppen has pinned five straight opponents.

DeMay also appeared in a title match, where he was pinned by Southwest Oregon's Lucius Van Rensburg in the first round. To get there, he took a 23-10 major decision over Grays Harbor's Jimmy Jones, a 5-1 decision over Oregon State's Joseph DeMatteo and a 4-3 decision over Clackamas's Dillon Ulrey.

Acuff went 3-2 on the day. He started with a first-round pin of Western Washington's Solomon Sok and advanced to the 149 semifinals with a 6-4 win over Highline's Antonio Nieves. Jasiah Williams of Clackamas sent him to the consolation bracket with a 3-0 decision, but he stayed alive by defeating Highline's Cole Morrison, 6-3. In the third-place match, Isaiah Diggs of Clackamas got him by 7-3 decision.

Kale Evenson (125) and Ryland Boyer (285) each picked up two consolation wins for the Raiders, by fall and major decision.

SOU picks up with two duals next Saturday in Portland against Simon Fraser (B.C.) and Warner Pacific. Next Sunday, the Raiders wrestle at the Clackamas Open.
