PRESCOTT, Ariz.Tanner Fischer remained the hottest wrestler on Southern Oregon's roster when the Raiders needed him most Friday night at Embry-Riddle.

With the Raiders trailing by two points, Fischer pinned Ryker Greenbaum at 197 pounds just 10 seconds before the third-period buzzer to swing the lead back to SOU, and Alejandro Sandoval clinched the 25-18 dual victory over the Eagles with a 5-2 decision over David Rupp at heavyweight.

At 8-7, SOU is back over the .500 mark for the first time since the opening night of the season and is in position to nail down its 47th consecutive winning season going into the final duals on Feb. 4 against Simpson (Calif.) and Eastern Oregon at Mountain Avenue Gym.

The Eagles (11-7), though unranked, had won eight duals in a row when the night began.

They were spotted an 8-0 lead as Chandler Strand (125) jump-started them with a 15-0 technical fall against Ian Rogers and Collin Anderson (133) followed with a 5-1 decision over Casey Coulter. SOU's answers were 10th-ranked Devin Poppen (141) and second-ranked Tyler Cowger (149), who came through with third-round pins of Cameron Huizar and Jerod Booth. The wins were Poppen's 15th and Cowger's 20th of the season. Cowger has also pinned his last four dual opponents.

After Embry-Riddle's James Williams cut into the lead with a 4-1 decision over Chandler Michael at 157, SOU's Aaron DeMay made it 16-11 with a 13-3 major decision over Kody Davis at 165. The Eagles went up 18-16, though, as Brenn Schiess (174) prevailed in a sudden victory against Andrew Orr and Sam Goings (184) worked Oscar Flores for an 11-2 major decision.

That set up the ninth-ranked Fischer, who ran his dual win-streak to 10 and his overall record in January to 13-0.

Six of SOU's duals this season have come down to the final match.
