SAN FRANCISCO/REDDING, Calif. – The Southern Oregon men's wrestling team made a long Saturday worthwhile, closing it with a 52-4 win over Simpson (Calif.) after driving away from San Francisco State with a 32-13 loss earlier in the afternoon.

In evening their dual record at 2-2 against the Redhawks, the 11th-ranked Raiders won by fall four times, scored two technical falls and benefited from three forfeits. The Raiders closed the contest with pins in each of the last four contests – Cody Stahl over Lucas Warnock at 165, Micah Arakawa over Layten Briggs at 174, Tanner Fischer over Kristopher Kranich at 197, and Zane Wardwell over Chris Borba in the heavyweight bout.

Trey Long (125) earned a 16-1, match-opening technical fall to get the Raiders going, and after a pair of forfeits and a 149-pound loss Chandler Michael (157) got another over Robert Gonzalez, 21-6.

The win was SOU's 10th over Simpson in as many head-to-head matchups.

At S.F. State, the Raiders jumped out to a 13-9 lead before dropping the last five matches.

Michael started the afternoon with an 11-4 decision over Landen Myer. After consecutive Gators wins, Max Hane (184) worked Elias Rosales, 13-1, and Fischer pined Kevin Henry in the second round for the four-point lead.

The Gators countered with Sam Alnassiri's pin at heavyweight, Brandon Vu's technical fall at 125, decisions for Nate Cervantes (133) and Josh Villafo (141), and Isiah Alva's match-closing pin at 149.

Fischer, ranked fourth in the NAIA at 197, improved to 4-0 in dual action with three bonus-point victories. Michael and Hane both went to 3-1.

After two weeks off, the Raiders will pick up on Dec. 17 at the Reno Tournament of Champions. Their next dual is on Jan. 2 at Providence (Mont.).
