ASHLAND – With five games left in the Cascade Conference regular season, the Southern Oregon men's soccer team will remain in control of first place as long as it keeps winning.

The Raiders (10-2-1 overall, 7-0-1 CCC) have been up to the task so far with an unbeaten streak of 11 games that includes 10 victories. They haven't lost at Raider Stadium since the 2016 season, and they're back this weekend for matchups at 4 p.m. Friday against Northwest (Wash.) (3-4-3, 2-3-2) and at 5 p.m. Saturday against Evergreen (Wash.) (6-2-2, 3-2-2).

HOME HAPPENINGS: The Raiders will wear pink Friday and fans are encouraged to do the same in observation of Breast Cancer Awareness Night. In conjunction with Homecoming weekend, SOU will also be holding its first-ever Alumni/Parent/Fan Beer and Wine Garden Social at Raider Stadium, beginning at 3 p.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m. south of the Raider Stadium grandstand. Appetizers will also be available.

NAIA TOP 25: Considering their results against the teams ranked ahead of them, it could and perhaps have happened sooner. But, on Tuesday, the Raiders finally earned a spot in the NAIA Top 25 for the first time in team history, debuting at No. 24. Rocky Mountain (Mont.) – which SOU defeated, 2-0 – is up to No. 11 in the poll, and Corban – which SOU tied but out-shot by a 26-12 margin – moved up to No. 15. Corban is three points behind SOU and Rocky is four back, though both have played one less game.

BRIEFLY:
  • After last weekend's results – a 5-1 win at Multnomah and a 2-0 win at Warner Pacific – 21 different players have recorded at least one point for the Raiders. Rocky has produced 17 scorers and no other team has more than 14.
  • On the NAIA leaderboards, SOU enters the weekend No. 4 in shutouts (8) and No. 17 in shots-on-goal per game (9.6). Wyatt Zabinski, the reigning CCC Defensive Player of the Year, owns 18 solo shutouts over the last two seasons and, in CCC matches, ranks second among conference keepers in save percentage (.889).
  • Freshman forward Noah Addie became the first Raider ever to notch two hat tricks in a season last weekend with three more goals at Multnomah. He leads the team in points with nine goals and one assist, followed by Mitchell Pinney (4 goals, 5 assists) and Carlos Magana (5 goals, 1 assist).
  • Ahmon Afenegus recorded a goal and an assist at Warner Pacific. In four years with the Raiders, his 16 total assists lead the team.
  • The Raiders are 4-0-1 at home and 10-0-1 since the start of 2017. They didn't trail in any of those games and only allowed goals in two of them.

ABOUT NORTHWEST:
  • The Eagles have given up nine goals in their last five games but only lost one of them. They've gone to overtime five times this season.
  • Jordan Travis has recorded team-highs of five goals and two assists. The Eagles have been outscored 15-14 overall.
  • SOU is 2-1 in three meetings with Northwest and scored shutout victories the last two years.

EVERGREEN:
  • Perennially one of the CCC's hardest teams to score on, the Geoducks are unbeaten in unbeaten in five of their last six games – the exception being a 3-2 stunner against Multnomah that severely dented their title hopes. They've allowed nine goals this season.
  • Senior Emilio Meraz-Rodriguez is carrying the offensive load with five goals and a CCC-high eight assists. Mitchell Balmer has added three goals, all game-winners.
  • SOU is 0-1-2 in three matchups with Evergreen. The teams played to a scoreless draw last year in Olympia.
