Raiders beat New Hope by 48

ASHLAND – In its first-ever game at Lithia Motors Pavilion, the No. 22 Southern Oregon men's basketball team got off to an unfriendly start with the rims but still managed to hit the century mark in a 100-52 defeat of New Hope Christian on Tuesday night.

Fourteen different Raiders hit the scoring column, led by senior guard Tristen Holmes' 15 points. SOU (5-1 overall) was cold from downtown, misfiring on 26 of its 33 attempts, but shot 65 percent from inside the arc (32-of-49).

The Raider bench also outscored the Beacons 59-5. Tate Hoffman came in to register a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, Conor Carroll scored 10, and the juniors hit two 3-pointers each. Reserves Matt Boudreax added eight points and seven boards, Brad Allen had nine rebounds and Aaron Borich dished out four assists.

Starting point guard Tez Allen totaled seven points, six rebounds and five assists and helped the Raiders to a 25-to-7 assist-to-turnover ratio.

SOU held the Deacons to a 28-percent mark from the field (18-of-64), the lowest for a Raider opponent in four years.

The Raiders outscored the Deacons 38-10 over the final 11 minutes. The margin of victory was their largest since they defeated New Hope by 50 points in the 2013-14 season.

They'll face the Deacons again Friday at the Lithia-Oregon Tech Classic and remain in Klamath Falls on Saturday to play Antelope Valley (Calif.).
