ASHLAND – Southern Oregon University forward Tate Hoffman has been voted the Cascade Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday, after sparking three Raider wins.

The sophomore from West Linn averaged 21.3 points and 11 rebounds, and shot 65 percent from the field (26-of-40) and 53 percent from 3 (10-of-19) as SOU defeated New Hope, Corban and Northwest Christian to go 19-9 and 13-5 in the CCC.

Hoffman's 24 points and 10 rebounds in the nonleague game at New Hope were both career-bests at the time. He hit a career-high five 3-pointers on his way to 17 points against Corban, and the 16 rebounds he pulled down that night were the most for any Raider in over five years. The gem of his week, however, was the NCU game: Along with going 10-of-15 for 23 points and seven boards, his defense on the conference's top scorer, Michael Loomis, resulted in a 4-of-13 shooting performance.

Hoffman raised his season scoring average to 12.3 points. In conference play, he ranks seventh among all CCC players in blocks (0.8), eighth in rebounds (6.8) and 14th in shooting percentage (52.7).

The Raiders, tied for second in the conference standings, close their regular season with a critical road trip this week – Friday at No. 4 College of Idaho and Saturday at No. 21 Eastern Oregon.
