Raiders too much for Geoducks in 30-point win

OLYMPIA, Wash. – The 19th-ranked Southern Oregon women's basketball team collected its fifth win in six games this month by keeping Evergreen (Wash.) winless, 85-55, in a Cascade Conference matchup Friday at the Costantino Recreation Center.

Junior point guard Daranda Hinkey stayed hot with 15 points, four assists and three of the Raiders' 13 3-pointers, and Syd Fryer scored 15 of her own on a 6-of-8 night that was complemented by seven rebounds.

SOU (13-5 overall, 9-3 CCC) moved back into second place in the standings thanks to first-place Eastern Oregon's defeat of Corban (7-3). The Raiders swept the season series with the Geoducks (0-14, 0-10), against whom they've won 13 straight overall.

They led from start to finish in the latest matchup after Kenadee Honaker opened the game with five quick points. Honaker, a sophomore wing, had four steals – giving her 26 in SOU's last six games – to help the Raiders force 26 turnovers.

Destinee Jones added six points, five steals and five rebounds. Ariel Augustine scored 13 and Delaney Sparling had 10, hitting two 3-pointers apiece.

Hinkey went 3-of-7 from deep, marking her sixth consecutive game with multiple 3s. During that span, she's combined to go 20-of-39 from behind the arc.

The Geoducks, who are down to six players, were outscored 52-33 in the second half. Deidra Miller scored a team-high 18 points.

SOU's Washington trip continues Saturday at Northwest. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
