SALEM
– A frenetic stretch in the second half resulted in the Southern Oregon men's soccer team ending first-place Corban's nine-game winning streak and walking away with a 2-2 tie under rainy skies on Friday afternoon at the CFC Soccer Complex.

The 21st-ranked Warriors (10-0-2 overall, 8-0-1 Cascade Conference) ended a stalemate in the 66th minute when Yuki Onishi assisted Matheus Giron's eighth goal of the season, but the Raiders (7-5-1, 5-2-1) struck back twice in swift fashion.

In the 73rd minute, senior Yan Pessoa de Oliveira struck from deep to equalize it with his second goal off of Michael Miller's sixth assist. Just three minutes later, Adrian Villegas hooked up fellow freshman Alan Gaytan for the go-ahead score.

The pace continued into the 83rd, when Kohl Hurtado knotted the score again by placing a long-distance shot set up by Camilo Avendano just inside the right post, ultimately keeping the Warriors unbeaten.

Corban's Charles Cleyton had the only shot on goal of overtime, though the Raiders had two chances on corner kicks during the second extra session.

SOU remained in third place, one point ahead of both Oregon Tech and Providence (Mont.), going into Saturday's 12:30 p.m. matchup with Northwest Christian in Eugene.

Villegas' assist, his sixth, gave him 22 total points – a new SOU single-season record. Gaytan's goal was his fifth, each of which have been recorded in SOU's last five outings.

Wyatt Zabinski collected three saves in the effort.
