Ristvedt continues climb up kills ladder in SOU's sweep of Knights

PORTLANDTaylor Ristvedt moved into the top-five on Southern Oregon's all-time kills list during another successful stop on her Cascade Conference farewell tour, a 25-17, 25-23, 25-17 rout of Warner Pacific on Friday night at Bart Valentine Court.

Ristvedt, a senior hitter from Portland, poured in 16 kills on a routinely outstanding .583 attacking average as the 10th-ranked Raiders (19-3 overall, 10-2 CCC) won their fourth straight match and picked up their eighth sweep in conference play.

Junior middle Elliott Cook also kept up her recent torrid pace with eight kills on 14 attacks along with a match-high four blocks, all assisted. Over SOU's last outings matches, the Grants Pass product has hit .452 with 23 kills.

Ristvedt bumped her career total to 1,164, taking over SOU's No. 5 spot for Mia Wortel, who recorded 1,156 from 2005-08. Ristvedt is now 32 away from the next individual on the list, Susan Rodinsky (1995-98).

The Raiders swept the season series and have won 15 straight against the Knights, who went to 3-14 overall and 2-11 in the CCC.

Hannah Bogatin had 23 assists and Tehani Faitau had 19 as SOU hit .295 as a team and watched WPU hit .133. Emma Ryan compiled a match-high 13 digs and Kady Jones had nine.

Makayla Hoyt added six kills and three blocks and Nila Lukens had five kills in the winning effort.

WPU was led by Audree Gormanson and Grace Buchanan, who totaled seven kills apiece.

The Raiders will finish their trip at 5 p.m. Saturday against Multnomah.
