PORTLAND – The Southern Oregon men's wrestling team recovered from a tough trip to Montana with four pins against Warner Pacific, defeating the Knights 36-16 in Cascade Conference dual action on Friday night at Bart Valentine Court.

Lorenzo Vasquez (125 pounds), Alex Rendon (141), JJ Talavera (157) and Noah Talavera (174) each won by fall for the Raiders, who improved their record to 1-2. Tanner Sallee (184) and Josh Hammers (197) padded the final score with forfeit victories.

Vasquez, a freshman from Culver, picked up the first win of his collegiate career by pinning Connor Finch in 2:09 to start the night. Rendon, a freshman from Pendleton, did the same in just 47 seconds against Aaron Vang.

JJ Talavera finished Zachery Sias 30 seconds into the second round before watching his brother, Noah Talavera, get his first win as a Raider in 2:20.

Cortez Rodelo (285) was a winner by fall for the Knights and Lucas Higginbotham (149) added bonus points with a major decision.

A group of Raiders will be in action Sunday at Pacific's Mike Clock Open. SOU will debut at home next Thursday, facing Corban at 5 p.m. and Simpson (Calif.) at 7 p.m.
