SOU stumped in 4th quarter by Embry-Riddle

PRESCOTT, Ariz.
– The Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) women's basketball team turned what was a tie game after three quarters into a 75-63 win over Southern Oregon on Friday night, riding three starting guards who turned in a combined 59 points.

Jenna Knudson and Jazlyn Malentio-Faga both scored 20 and Hailey Villegas added 19 points, and Knudson and Villegas also had five assists apiece as the Eagles improved to 6-2.

Dominique Harding had 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting to go with six rebounds and four assists for the Raiders, who dipped to 3-3.

Syd'Nee Fryer's bucket cut SOU's deficit to 59-57 with 3:45 to play, but the Eagles answered with a 6-0 run that put them in control for good. Leading 69-62 after a pair of Knudson free throws, Villegas slammed the door on a 3-pointer with 1:17 left.

Fryer contributed 12 points, three steals and three assists. Kami Walk shot 4-of-5 to score eight points and Delaney Sparling added eight more off the bench.

The Raiders had a 21-11 on a Kenadee Honaker 3-pointer two minutes into the second quarter before the Eagles began chipping away, tying it at 50-all going into the fourth.

SOU will stay in Arizona for its first matchup with Park (Ariz.) on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
