SOU overpowers Multnomah for 7th straight win

ASHLAND – While posting a season-high attacking average for the fourth outing in a row, fifth-ranked Southern Oregon overmatched Multnomah in a 25-8, 25-14, 25-9 win on Friday night at Lithia Motors Pavilion, improving to 3-0 in Cascade Conference play.

Maddie Pernich led all players with 10 kills. Makayla Hoyt and Shelby Young had seven kills apiece, and Elliott Cook and Taylor Ristvedt both added six. Together, those five did their damage with just five combined attacking errors.

The Raiders (12-1 overall) have won seven in a row, swept four consecutive opponents and taken 13 straight sets. They hit .444 against the Lions (0-3 overall, 0-3 CCC) and finished at their best with a .786 clip in the final set, finishing 12 kills on 14 attempts.

SOU has yet to lose to Multnomah in nine meetings. The latest lasted 55 minutes.

Hannah Bogatin had a team-high 18 assists with two service aces and Tehani Faitau had 16 assists and three aces. In holding the Lions to a negative-.158 attack, the Raiders amassed seven blocks, led by Hoyt's four, and Kadyn Jones collected eight digs with two aces.

Multnomah was led by Taylor Howie's four kills and Alyssa Mehalovich's nine digs.

The Raiders will be at home again on Saturday, hosting Warner Pacific at 5 p.m.
