ASHLAND – Southern Oregon's winning streak hit six on Thursday afternoon as
Elliott Cook delivered 10 kills on 14 attempts to lead the Raiders to a .400 average and a 25-15, 25-8, 25-10 win over Walla Walla (Wash.) at Lithia Motors Pavilion.
With Cook, a junior middle, leading the way in both matches, the sixth-ranked Raiders (11-1 overall) got their second straight sweep to start the Cascade Conference schedule. They played without all-star right-side
Taylor Ristvedt, but in her place freshman hitter
Shelby Young had nine kills,
Maddie Pernich had six and
Makayla Hoyt added five without an error.
The Wolves (0-8, 0-2 CCC), still winless since 2017, committed 19 attacking, eight reception and seven service errors.
Hannah Bogatin assisted 20 of the team's 36 kills and added a match-high three service aces. With her and
Tehani Faitau setting up the offense, the Raiders have hit .300-plus in three consecutive matches.
Emma Ryan checked in with 10 digs and two aces.
WWU's Jenn Bosler recorded a team-high five kills. As a team, the Wolves hit negative-.053.
SOU will stay at home next week to play at 7 p.m. Friday against Multnomah and 5 p.m. Saturday against Warner Pacific.
