EUGENE – The 17th-ranked Northwest Christian women's basketball team kept its spot in first place and got back at Southern Oregon with an 84-60 Cascade Conference win Friday night at the Morse Event Center.
Morgan McKinney had 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists to spark the Beacons, who have won six in a row since a 76-74 loss to the Raiders on Jan. 18 in Ashland. The junior forward scored 17 in the first half with a 4-of-5 display from 3-point range, helping NCU race out to a 30-point lead.
The Beacons went to 19-4 overall and 13-2 in the CCC. They remained one game ahead of second-place Eastern Oregon in the loss column.
The Raiders (15-8, 11-5) are tied in the loss column in third place with Corban, which they'll visit at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
Against the Beacons, they were sunk by a 32-percent clip from the field.
Daranda Hinkey and
Danasia Allison scored team-highs of eight points apiece, while
Izzy Hernandez and
Delaney Sparling both had seven.
Hernandez also pulled in a career-high six rebounds, while
Kami Walk totaled six points and seven boards.
The Beacons shot 46 percent for the game and went 21-of-36 in the first half, where the knocked down seven of their 11 3-pointers. Aspen Slifka finished with 15 points, Kaylen Kamelamela had 13 and Dani Baker added 10.
