KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Following a memorable season in a few respects for the Southern Oregon men's basketball team, Tate Hoffman made a lasting mark Thursday when he became just the sixth NAIA All-American in program history, landing third-team honors.

Hoffman, a 6-foot-7 senior forward from West Linn, averaged 17.6 points on 50-percent shooting and 6.9 rebounds on the season before his career was cut a little short. In his final game before the NAIA Division II National Tournament was abruptly canceled, he posted 19 points, five rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots to highlight the eighth-ranked Raiders' first-round victory against Montreat (N.C.) – which gave them a 24-7 record and the team's best winning percentage (.774) in 52 years.

On SOU's career lists, Hoffman finished No. 7 in rebounds (742), No. 8 in 3-point makes (157) and No. 9 in points (1,495).

He saved his best work for his senior season, finishing top-eight among all Cascade Conference players in points, rebounds, blocks and field-goal percentage. He logged five of his six double-doubles in conference play – including four 20-point, 10-rebound outings – and in CCC games upped his averages to 18.4 points on 52-percent accuracy and 7.5 boards.

Hoffman scored 20-plus points 11 times after doing so in six outings combined over his first three years with the Raiders. He also made a pair of game-saving at the buzzer, leading to SOU wins over rivals Eastern Oregon and Oregon Tech.

Over the past month, Hoffman was also named to the All-Cascade Conference first team and was one of 27 players in the NAIA selected to a CoSIDA Academic All-District team.
