OLYMPIA, Wash. – Evergreen (Wash.) piled on with 18 blocks in a clinical defensive showing to defeat Southern Oregon 13-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-17 in a Cascade Conference match Friday night at the Costantino Recreation Center.
The fifth-place Geoducks (8-8 overall, 8-7 CCC) stopped the Raiders (11-8, 6-9) from catching them in the standings behind Zoe Shaw's 18 kills and seven digs. Lily Stewart starred at the net with eight total blocks, including six of the solo variety, while three others had at least three apiece.
The result was a .065 attacking average for the Raiders, their lowest of the season even after dominating the first set with a .379 clip.
Hailey Van Well posted 11 kills,
Simone Gordon had 10 and
Hannah Stadstad added eight to lead SOU.
Kadyn Jones had 16 digs and
Taylor Jackson was in on two of the team's four blocks.
Of Sierra Wolff's 41 assists for Evergreen, 11 went to Stewart. The Geoducks hit .194 collectively.
The Raiders will face another team they're chasing Saturday at Northwest (Wash.), which is tied with Evergreen in the standings. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
