Raiders sharp in road sweep of Multnomah

PORTLAND – The Southern Oregon volleyball team didn't mess around in a 25-20, 25-17, 25-15 win over Multnomah on Saturday night at Skagen Court, completing a weekend sweep of its Cascade Conference road trip.

Hailey Van Well's 16 kills equaled the third-highest total for any Raider in a sweep over the last five years, and she did her damage on 33 swings. Hannah Stadstad had a similarly efficient night with seven kills on 12 attacks, and Katie Vroman and Shelby Young had five kills each.

Taylor Russell totaled 18 assists and seven digs, leading the Raiders (9-7, 4-7 CCC) to a collective .231 hitting average.

Defensively, a night after posting a season-high 10 blocks in a four-set win at Warner Pacific, Carol Melo poured in nine more while Stadstad assisted five of SOU's 11.

The Raiders got numerous contributions on the back line, pulling from Kadyn Jones' 12 digs, Karina Oliveira's 10 and Kayla Neidigh's six. Neidigh and Savannah Schwindt both had two service aces too.

The Raiders allowed the Lions (3-9, 2-9) to hit just .118 and kept them to two service aces.

They'll bring a little momentum into Wednesday's rematch with rival Oregon Tech, which is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at Lithia Motors Pavilion.
