PORTLAND – The Southern Oregon women's soccer team stayed the course Friday with its fourth consecutive shutout victory, a 2-0 defeat of Warner Pacific in a Cascade Conference matchup at the Eastside Timbers Sports Complex.
SOU got both of its goals within a span of 85 seconds in the second half.
Ruth Hegstad scored her second of the season in the 50th minute and
Sarah Mauk netted her team-leading sixth in the 52nd. Both were unassisted.
The Raiders upped their record to 11-4-1 overall and 9-2 in the CCC entering Saturday's regular-season finale at last-place Multnomah. They've won eight of their last nine and allowed only four goals during the stretch.
They remain tied with College of Idaho for second place, three points behind Oregon Tech, and are guaranteed no worse than the No. 3 seed when the CCC Tournament begins on Nov. 9 in Springfield. If they win and the Yotes and Owls both lose Saturday – at Northwest (Wash.) and Warner Pacific, respectively – the Raiders will have a share of the CCC title and the No. 1 seed.
Although they didn't take the lead until late against the Knights, they had a 14-6 edge in shots and goalkeeper
Jessie Selby only had to make one save for the shutout.
The Raiders are up to 10 total shutouts this season. The team record, established five years ago, is 13.
