LA GRANDE – The No. 3-ranked Southern Oregon women's wrestling team took the wind out of No. 12 Eastern Oregon's sails early in a 34-11 season-opening dual victory Saturday night at Quinn Coliseum.

The Raiders earned bonus points in each of the first four matches and claimed seven of 10 weight classes on the night to cruise in their first dual outing in over 20 months.

Defending national champion Sienna Ramirez won the matchup of the night at 155 pounds. The top-ranked senior blanked the No. 5-ranked Dempsi Talkington, 4-0.

The outcome was decided long before then. Karly Scott got the Raiders started with a win by technical fall at 101 pounds, and 13th-ranked Valeree Ornelas (109), sixth-ranked Tara Othman (116) and 20th-ranked Carolina Moreno (116) followed with consecutive pins to put SOU up 19-0. Othman and Moreno took care of their opponents, No. 15 Stephanie Blankenship and No. 22 Anjelynn Baron, in a matter of 39 seconds combined.

Emily Se, ranked No. 9 at 130 pounds, tacked on SOU's fourth pin in the 136 match. She finished Kaylee Moore in the first round in her Raider debut.

After Ramirez, Bailey Dennis was SOU's final winner by forfeit at 191.

Desinee Lopez took a point off EOU's top-ranked individual, Erin Redford, in a 9-5 loss at 143.

The Raiders will stay at EOU to compete in Sunday's Mountaineer Open. Their next dual will be at home next Thursday against No. 9 Menlo (Calif.).
