ASHLAND – Southern Oregon softball All-Americans
Gabby Sandoval and
Allie Stines earned Cacsade Conference Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Player of the Week plaudits, the league office announced Monday, after hitting personal milestones over the weekend.
Sandoval, a senior from Anaheim, Calif., moved into the top-10 on the NAIA's all-time pitcher wins list with Sunday's four-hit shutout of Simpson (Calif.). Her career record at SOU went to 94-17 after the weekend, which also included Saturday's complete-game victory against William Jessup (Calif.) in which she allowed three earned runs.
Sandoval is 4-0 with one save through the top-ranked Raiders' first eight games. Her ERA stands at 1.00, and her streak of consecutive decisions won remains active at 17. Sunday's shutout also marked the 30th of her career.
Stines, meanwhile, broke SOU's career doubles record despite having only been on the roster for the equivalent of one-and-a-half seasons. She's hit 44 of them as a Raider after going 8-for-16 with three doubles, a home run, five RBIs and five runs scored in four weekend contests.
Stines currently tops the NAIA leaderboard in hits (15) and doubles (5). The San Bruno, Calif., product is batting .469 and has already turned in seven multi-hit games, including six in a row.
The Raiders' record stands at 7-1. Their upcoming four-game series Saturday and Sunday against Simpson has tentatively been moved from Ashland to Redding, Calif.
