LA GRANDE –
Tez Allen successfully manipulated all phases of Southern Oregon's 93-76 defeat of Eastern Oregon in Cascade Conference play Friday night at Quinn Coliseum.
Allen shot 10-of-15 from the field, including 5-of-7 from 3, to score a career-high 25 points while amassing nine assists, eight rebounds and two steals for the Raiders.
The junior guard – whose last 24 hours has also included a CoSIDA Academic All-District nod, one of just 23 in the NAIA – has now come within a few plays of a triple-double twice this spring in addition to registering three double-doubles.
The Raiders improved to 6-3 in the CCC heading into Saturday's spring finale, which has been moved up two hours to a 1 p.m. tipoff.
They had three more players in double figures:
Josh Meyer (13 points, 10 rebounds), who delivered his fifth double-double,
Jake Virga (11 points, 4 assists), and
Hunter Bradford (11 points).
Brad Allen and
Elijah Jackson pitched in nine points each off the bench, where the Raiders got 28 points to EOU's 11.
SOU opened up a 30-14 advantage in the first 10 minutes by knocking down seven 3-pointers. They finished 14-of-32 beyond the arc for the game, and shot a season-best 55 percent (35-of-64) overall.
The Raiders led 52-39 at halftime and didn't budge in the second half, where Allen hit six of his seven attempts with three 3-pointers.
Allen shot 16-of-59 from downtown over 30 games last season. In 10 games this spring, he's 25-of-50.
