ASHLAND – Playing at home for the first time this season, the Southern Oregon women's soccer team starts the race for a Cascade Conference championship on Friday and Saturday at Raider Stadium.

The Raiders played the entirety of their nonleague schedule in California, going 2-2-1, and will now host two Washington-based schools – Evergreen (0-3-1) and Northwest (1-4-1) – as they attempt to invalidate a CCC preseason poll that had them picked to finish seventh. Both games are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. starts.

FAN POLICY: All fans 12 and older planning to attend are subject to SOU's new vaccination policy, which requires proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 or a negative test taken no more than 48 hours prior to entry. Photo ID must be presented for verification. All non-participants will also be required to wear masks regardless of vaccination status.

NAIA TOP 25: The CCC put two teams in Wednesday's NAIA Top 25 coaches' poll, the second edition of the regular season: No. 15 Eastern Oregon and No. 21 Oregon Tech. The Raiders will get Oregon Tech at home next week and travel to EOU in October. They've already matched up with one Top 25 team in No. 18 Westmont (Calif.), which defeated them 1-0.

BRIEFLY:
  • Senior keeper Jessie Selby had an outstanding preseason with 27 saves compared to just one goal allowed in three outings. In her SOU career, she's collected 121 saves and given up 19 goals – good for a .864 save average that would be the best ever for a Raider keeper.
  • Four different Raiders have accounted for their four goals: Jasmine Gray, Sarah Mauk, Morgan Rohmann and Mia Santander. Mauk also has an assist and has now recorded 10 goals and four assists in 24 career games. Baylee Touey, whose nine goals in 2019 marked the third-highest total for an SOU player in the last 10 years, is looking for her for point after sitting out last spring to run for the Raider track and field team.
  • Raider head coach Jenni Rosenberg has a career record of 51-27-7 in conference play. The Raiders have finished .500 or better in the CCC 13 seasons in a row; Corban owns the next-longest active streak at 11.
  • The Raiders are unbeaten in 39 consecutive home games in which they've scored at least one goal. They've won 15 straight CCC games overall in which they've scored at least two.

ABOUT EVERGREEN: The Geoducks were outscored 15-2 in their four nonleague games, including a 3-0 loss to Northwest. Head coach Steve Schmidt's squad was picked to finish 10th in the conference after opting out of last spring. The Raiders are 16-3-3 in the head-to-head series and have won 11 straight matchups.

ABOUT NORTHWEST: The Eagles sport an unattractive record but took two of their losses against NCAA Division II teams and another to No. 17 Westmont in overtime. Like the Raiders, they went 5-4-1 in CCC play last spring, but defeated SOU 3-0 and got a 0-0 draw out of the second tilt. They have back a pair of all-conference attackers in Callie Wright, who has 19 goals and nine assists in her career, and Olivia Morris, who has 13 goals and 13 assists.
