CALDWELL, Idaho – A shorthanded Southern Oregon offense left with only a field goal to show for its trip to Simplot Stadium after a 29-3 loss against College of Idaho on Saturday afternoon.

In a Frontier Conference matchup, the Raiders (1-2) were limited to 205 yards of offense and their lowest point total since being shut out at Portland State in 2011.

The Yotes (2-1), winners of back-to-back FC titles, also had all three of the game's takeaways, including two in the first half as they built a 23-0 lead to take into the break.

C of I quarterbacks Ryan Hibbs and Jack Rice combined to complete 17-of-22 pass attempts for 229 yards, and Nick Calzaretta headed a rushing attack that produced 159 yards by netting 89 himself. Calzaretta also scored a pair of touchdowns, a two-yarder that made it 10-0 before the end of the first quarter and another two-yarder that put the Yotes up by three scores midway through the second.

Cesar Ruiz accounted for SOU's points by knocking in a 38-yard field goal in the third quarter.

Days after being named the NAIA Player of the Week for his six total TDs against MSU-Northern, SOU quarterback Matt Struck was held to 129 yards on 35 attempts and no TDs against the Yotes. Playing in front of a thin offensive line, he absorbed three sacks.

Christian Graney had four receptions for 50 yards, and Ben Graziani had five for 44. Running back Hykeem Massey rushed for 48 yards on 13 carries.

Defensively, the Raiders kept C of I to 388 yards. Tre Holmes did his part on the line with eight tackles and a sack. Tua Laolagi and Champ Robertson both had seven tackles, and Laolagi was credited with 1 ½ sacks.

SOU will play at Raider Stadium for the first time in nearly two years next Saturday, kicking off at 1 p.m. against Carroll (Mont.). The Saints will also enter with a 1-2 record after falling 10-7 against No. 13-ranked Eastern Oregon.
