EUGENE – A tough week on the road concluded for the Southern Oregon volleyball team with a 25-22, 25-13, 25-19 loss to Bushnell in Cascade Conference play on Saturday evening at the Morse Center.
Less than 24 hours after taking No. 7-ranked Corban to five sets, freshman hitter
Hannah Stadstad's 10 kills on 16 attacks were a bright spot on a night that didn't have many for the Raiders.
The match took a turn after they had the first set tied at 21-all. Shay Coons' kill and Bella Parque's ace started a 4-1 run that clinched it for the Beacons, who went on to score the first four points of the second frame, too.
The Beacons, who received votes in this week's NAIA Top 25 poll, went to 9-2 overall and 5-2 in the CCC. Coons had 13 kills and Jessica Northcutt added 10, and Cambria Lingenfelder recorded three service aces as the Raiders committed eight reception errors.
SOU also got eight kills from
Shelby Young, seven from
Simone Gordon, and 11 digs from
Kadyn Jones.
The Raiders (7-5, 2-5) will attempt to end their five-match skid at home, hosting College of Idaho next Friday and No. 14 Eastern Oregon on Saturday. Both matches start at 7 p.m.
