ASHLAND – The Southern Oregon men's soccer team handled Multnomah 3-0 on Friday afternoon, getting two goals from
Jeong Kang on the penultimate day of the regular season at Raider Stadium.
SOU (12-5 overall, 9-3 Cascade Conference) was in control all match, logging 23 shots to the Lions' four, and went ahead in the eighth minute when
Sam Walker crossed to Kang and he finished for his first goal as a Raider. Kang, a junior from Seoul, South Korea, tallied his second in the 51st minute as
Evan Norconk's pass got through a pair of defenders to set up a 10-yard shot in the box.
Noah Addie made it a three-goal lead in the 54th with a sliding score set up by Norconk and
Bryan Millan.
The Raiders have won nine of their last 10 entering Saturday's 2:30 p.m. matchup with No. 19-ranked Warner Pacific, which clinched its second consecutive CCC regular-season title and remained unbeaten with a draw Friday at Oregon Tech.
The Raiders sit in fourth place and a move up would be unlikely: they'd need Multnomah to take a point off Oregon Tech or 12th-place Bushnell to take a point off Corban paired with a win over the Knights.
Anthony Armenta made the only save necessary against the Lions, who fell to 7-9-1 overall and 4-8 in the CCC. He upped his keeper record to 6-0 in CCC matches.
The shutout was the Raiders' seventh during conference play.
