COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – The Southern Oregon men's soccer team scored five times in the first half and continued its dominance of Walla Walla (Wash.) with a 7-0 Cascade Conference win on Sunday afternoon.
Junior forward
Alan Gaytan took over sole possession of the top spot on SOU's all-time goals list with the 22nd and 23rd of his career.
Sam Walker scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season,
Tybalt Thornberry had a goal and an assist, and
Bryan Millan,
Gopala Sauer and
Adrian Villegas each tallied.
The Raiders (8-4 overall, 5-2 CCC) extended their winning streak to five. For the first time since 2018, they've shut out four consecutive opponents.
The Wolves (0-9, 0-8) dropped to 0-7 all-time against the Raiders. They've been outscored 62-3 in those matchups. The loss was their 32nd straight in CCC play.
Walker deposited the first goal 68 seconds into the contest. Ten minutes later, the Raiders led 4-0.
Jeong Kang and
Noah Addie were also credited with assists.
The Raiders play four of their final six regular-season matches at home. They'll be at Raider Stadium next Friday to face Eastern Oregon. On Saturday they'll face College of Idaho, with whom they are tied for fourth place in the standings.
