COMPLETE TOURNAMENT RESULTS
FOREST GROVE – The No. 2-ranked Southern Oregon women's wrestling team opened its season by dominating the Mike Clock Open on Sunday, claiming titles in six of 10 weight classes and producing three runners-up.
The Raiders got individual championships from
Esthela Trevino at 101 pounds,
Carolina Moreno at 123,
Bella Amaro at 136,
Emily Se at 143,
Joye Levendusky at 170, and
Grace Kristoff at 191.
Macie Stewart (109),
Glory Konecny (116) and
Bailey Dennis (170) each placed second, and
Emma Baertlein (109) took third.
Among the other nine teams represented was No. 4-ranked Menlo (Calif.), the Cascade Conference preseason favorite, which boasted one champion.
Se – a returning NAIA All-American ranked No. 9 in the preseason – turned in the performance of the day with four consecutive pins, capped by a 27-second defeat of Eastern Oregon's Liv Wieber. Moreno, a top-ranked defending national champion, went 4-0 with two technical falls and defeated Simon Fraser's Victoria Seal 8-2 in her final. Trevino, another returner, went 3-0 with two falls and pinned Menlo's Tianna Fernandez in 46 seconds for the title.
The Raiders' other three champs were each making their SOU debuts. Amaro, a freshman from Oregon City, was 4-0 with back-to-back technical falls, a pin in the semifinals, and a 4-0 win in the finale over unattached
Candice Corralejo. The No. 10-ranked Kristoff had three pins, including in 1:32 over Grays Harbor's Renaeh Ureste in the final, and a technical fall. Levendusky – who, like Kristoff, transferred from McKendree (Ill.) – and
Bailey Dennis both ran off three consecutive technical falls to reach the 170 final, where Dennis ceded to Levendusky with a forfeit.
Konecny and Stewart both went 3-1 on the day. Konecny lost her final on criteria.
The Raiders were also represented by five fourth-place finishers:
Karly Scott (101),
Liv Villanueva (109),
Desinee Lopez (136),
Sage Teixeira (155), and
Chyna Rodriguez (191).
Jordynn Robson (123) and
Ramona Jimenez (191) placed sixth.
SOU will be on the road to compete Friday and Saturday at the Missouri Valley Open.
