PORTLAND – The Southern Oregon University volleyball team clinched a spot in the Cascade Conference Tournament on the penultimate night of the regular season Friday against Warner Pacific, cruising in a 25-20, 25-10, 25-17 sweep at Bart Valentine Court.
The Raiders improved to 19-9 overall and 13-8 in the CCC, and with a win Saturday at Multnomah can claim the No. 3 seed in the six-team tournament that begins on Nov. 11.
They had no problems against the last-place Knights (1-20, 1-20), hitting .273 and giving up a .020 attacking average.
Sadie Byrd had seven kills and three blocks,
Simone Gordon totaled seven kills, and
Karina Oliveira picked up a team-high 12 digs.
Trinity Atuatasi helped them dominate the serve-receive game with five of the team's 10 aces. WPU had just two.
Kayla Neidigh added nine digs and
Katie Vroman had six kills for the Raiders, who have defeated the Knights in 19 consecutive matchups.
Saturday's match starts at 5 p.m. in Portland.
