RENO, Nev. –
Aaron Gandara and
Simon Graeber both made quarterfinal appearances in their respective brackets to head the Southern Oregon men's wrestling team's efforts Sunday at the Reno Tournament of Champions.
Gandara, the NAIA's No. 7-ranked 149-pounder, pinned Blake Dirksen of Saint Ambrose (Iowa) and won by decision against Michigan State's Braden Stauffenberg to start the day. In the quarters, he lost by decision to unattached Victor Jacinto before Michigan State's Eddie Homrock eliminated him in the consolation bracket.
Graeber won by major decision and fall against Vanguard (Calif.)'s Julian Leon and Grand View (Iowa)'s Korey Mendoza to reach 133 quarters. A loss to unattached Aden Valencia sent him to the consolation bracket, where he was defeated by Corban's Bo Davis.
Alex Hernandez had a team-high three wins for SOU at 174, scoring two in the consolation rounds. He registered a pin and a major decision.
Kabb Christensen (184) and
Antonio Garcia (285) both went 2-2. Six more Raiders contributed a victory apiece:

The Raiders finished 10th of 23 in the team standings. After breaking for the holidays, they'll return to action on Jan. 6 at Menlo (Calif.).
