Allison posts 8 steals as Raiders beat Multnomah

PORTLAND – The No. 23-ranked Southern Oregon women's basketball team came out of halftime with a 13-2 surge to pull away from Multnomah for a 62-43 Cascade Conference victory against Multnomah on Friday night at Lytle Gym.

Senior guard Danasia Allison harassed the Lions with eight steals, the most for any Raider in eight years, at the head of a defense that forced 29 turnovers and 33-percent shooting. Brianna Phiakhamngon kept the Raiders on point at the other end of the floor with 14 points, hitting three 3-pointers and distributing four assists.

The Raiders bumped their record to 9-3 overall and 5-1 in the CCC, remaining in a three-way tie for second place heading into Saturday's 3 p.m. contest at Warner Pacific.

After going into the break with a 30-25 edge, the Raiders went their run punctuated by back-to-back Phiakhamngon 3s. Allison shut down any Multnomah comeback thoughts by coming up with four of her steals in the fourth quarter.

Allison had missed SOU's three previous games due to injury. She's accumulated multiple steals in seven of nine appearances this season.

Kami Walk threw in 12 points and three steals. Off the bench Emma Schmerbach added nine points and Izzy Hernandez had seven. The pair combined to shoot 6-of-7 from the field.

Elise Graham's 14 points led the Lions (3-9, 1-5).
