SOU pulls out overtime win at Oregon Tech

KLAMATH FALLS – The Southern Oregon women's basketball team put in overtime Tuesday night to clear its latest hurdle in another show of fortitude at Danny Miles Court.

After watching their 15-point lead evaporate in regulation, the Raiders recovered in the extra session to beat Oregon Tech 71-67 in Cascade Conference play, completing a regular-season sweep of their rivals.

Kami Walk had 15 points and 14 rebounds, and Dominique Harding had 16 points, five rebounds and three assists. They were both in on a 6-0 run to start overtime, helping the Raiders (22-4 overall, 15-3 CCC) build a lead they never relinquished.

With SOU up 68-67 and 26 seconds left, Harding threw up a desperation jumper at the end of the shot clock that missed the rim but Walk was waiting under the basket to put it back. The Raiders then got the final stop they needed and Harding hit a free throw with four seconds left to finish the deal.

During their active five-game winning streak the Raiders have won four games by six points or less, and three of those by four points or less. They've won four straight head-to-head meetings with the Owls (17-8, 10-8) dating back to the 2019-20 season. With four games left in the regular season, they remain tied in first place with Lewis-Clark State (Idaho).

Kalei Iwami helped them stay there with 12 points off the bench. She went 3-for-3 from 3-point range in the third quarter, and Harding's triple with less than a minute left in the period gave the Raiders their largest lead at 51-36.

The Owls began to chip away with a 12-2 run. They didn't tie it until Shelby Blodgett scored at the rim with five seconds left in regulation.

Harding and Walk stabilized the Raiders with back-to-back buckets to start OT.

Walk's double-double was her third in a row. Iwami's effort made her 9-for-17 on SOU's three-game road trip, during which she averaged 13.3 points per game.

Syd'Nee Fryer and Brianna Phiakhamngon chipped in seven points each.

Blodgett's 17 points and 10 rebounds led the Owls, who shot 40 percent from the field to SOU's 36.

The Raiders are home for the last time during the regular season this weekend, playing Warner Pacific at 5:30 p.m. Friday and Multnomah at 3 p.m. Saturday.
