Eagles keep unbeaten record intact against Raiders

KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest (Wash.) stayed unbeaten with a 1-0 win over Southern Oregon in the Cascade Conference opener for both teams on Friday afternoon at NU Athletic Field.

The Eagles (5-0-1 overall) made their 10th-minute goal stand as the decider. Elizabeth Moretti scored her third of the season, set up by an assist from Olivia Morris.

The Raiders (1-4-1) were limited to one shot on goal and four total attempts. They were blanked for the third consecutive game, but goalkeeper Jessie Shelby kept them in it with seven saves.

NU, which is receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 coaches' poll, has allowed one goal in six outings this season. Dating back to 2021, the Eagles have lost just one of their last 14 games.

SOU plays again at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen (Wash.), which dropped its CCC opener 3-2 against Oregon Tech on Friday.
