MERCED, Calif. –
Jessie Selby's four-save shutout enabled the Southern Oregon women's soccer team to come away with a result against UC Merced, settling on a 0-0 draw on Tuesday afternoon at Bobcat Field.
The Raiders (1-3-1 overall) stopped a two-game skid. The contest was the last on their non-conference slate – played exclusively on the road – and the first to end in a tie; overtime has been eliminated in regular season play across college soccer this year.
Selby's shutout was the 15th of her career, which put her alone at No. 2 on SOU's all-time list.
Despite the stellar work by her and the back line, the Raiders' attacking issues persisted. They generated seven total shots and four on target, including two from
Baylee Touey, but remained stuck on two goals through their first five outings.
Goalkeeper Melody Martinez made all four saves for UC Merced (1-1-2).
The Raiders will be away for their first three Cascade Conference games: Sept. 16 at Northwest (Wash.), Sept. 17 at Evergreen (Wash.), and Sept. 23 at Oregon Tech.
